The Power of Sharing Your Dream to Write a Book
If you feel called to write a book that could make a positive impact in the world, what’s actually holding you back?
Many aspiring authors I speak with share how nervous they felt when they finally booked that first call to talk about their book. Saying it out loud made it real. What had lived quietly in their mind was now being shared with someone else — someone who could hold them accountable and support them in taking action.
That moment can feel vulnerable. Exposing. Even a little terrifying.
I understand that deeply.
When I hired a coach to write my first book, that initial conversation scared me more than I expected. I had started writing but was stuck in my head, second-guessing myself, wondering if I was “ready” or “qualified enough.” I knew I needed outside support — someone to help me stay focused and actually finish what my heart was calling me to create.
It’s taken practice, but I no longer ignore those inner callings when they arise.
Fear is tricky. It often sneaks under the radar as procrastination, overthinking, or waiting for the “right time.” Especially when we’re stretching outside of our comfort zones.
So I’ll ask you this, gently:
What book are you quietly holding in your heart... that you haven’t yet finished?
Not because you don’t care — but because it matters so much.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
Sometimes the bravest step is simply letting your book dream be seen.
Gentle journaling prompts for aspiring authors:
- What fears come up when you imagine telling someone,“I’m writing a book”?
- What does your heart have to say to you about writing this book?
- Who could support you — through accountability, encouragement, or connections— as you embark upon writing your book?
- What’s one small, realistic step you could take this month to move your book forward?
You're allowed to trust your calling to write your book. And you're allowed to begin before you feel ready. Remember, action turns possibility into progress.
